National recognition for Headlands consultant Katrina Roberts

Headlands is proud to celebrate one of our own, with consultant Katrina Roberts recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours, receiving a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).

The honour acknowledges Katrina’s exceptional contribution to the dairy industry and her ongoing commitment to supporting farmers and rural communities across New Zealand.

With more than two decades of experience spanning veterinary science, herd health, and whole-farm systems, Katrina has built a reputation for combining deep technical expertise with a practical, real-world approach. Her work alongside farmers focuses on improving performance in a way that is both sustainable and achievable, always grounded in strong relationships and a genuine understanding of the people behind the farm business.

Katrina joined Headlands in 2011, bringing with her a unique skillset that bridges animal health, farm systems, and environmental and financial performance. Over that time, she has played an important role in helping farmers navigate change, adopt new practices, and plan confidently for the future.

Beyond her day-to-day consultancy work, Katrina has made significant contributions to the wider dairy sector. She has been actively involved in industry programmes, research and training initiatives, and is widely respected for her ability to share knowledge in a practical and accessible way.

Those who work with Katrina know her not only for her expertise but also for her passion for helping others succeed. She is deeply committed to supporting farmers in doing better for their businesses, their animals, their land, and their people.

This recognition reflects the impact of that work over many years.

Headlands chief executive David Waddell says the honour is very much deserved.

“Katrina represents everything we value at Headlands, including technical excellence, strong relationships and a genuine commitment to making a difference. We are incredibly proud to see her contribution recognised at a national level.”

For Katrina, the recognition reflects the people she works alongside. “I have had the support of some outstanding mentors throughout my career and the privilege to work with many exceptional farmers.”

Katrina’s MNZM is not only a significant personal milestone but a moment of pride for the entire Headlands team.

We congratulate Katrina on this outstanding achievement and thank her for the leadership, dedication and care she brings to our clients and our industry every day.
